Serious runners as well as families and fun-runners will be taking part in the Little Hadham Fun Run on Sunday June 14. The organisers are hoping for at least 200 participants for the event in support of CRY, Cardiac Risk in the Young, in memory of Caroline Johnstone, who died tragically a year ago. Caroline lived in Chapel Lane, Little Hadham, and was a pupil at Bishop’s Stortford High School. Lesley Johnstone, Caroline’s mother, will start the race. The Fun Run is the first event in a calendar of activities in the latest Little Hadham Parish Plan, which was launched recently along with a new Village Guide. Participants have a choice of a 5k or 10k route, both of which take in most of the hamlets that make up the village. The event starts from the village hall car park at 10.30am and finishes at the Nags Head pub with a barbecue. Finishers will receive a certificate and a complimentary drink. Entry fee is £5. Proceeds will be split between CRY and a starter fund for the next Parish Plan event in Little Hadham. The organisers are inviting entries – serious or fun runners – from Little Hadham and the surrounding area and there is still time to enter. Contact Mike Smith (01279 771568) or John Purvis (01279 843049). John, a parish councillor who recently completed the London Marathon, said: “This is essentially a fun event but are we hoping to attract serious runners as well. If it is as successful as we hope, it will become an annual event.” For more information, please contact: Dr Mike Smith 01279 771568 John Purvis 01279 843049 |
