TRANSPORT – Looking forward

  • HCC fighting the government in relation to building growth and how it would impinge on transport. Report due Autumn 08.
  • The county’s Local Strategic Partnership (called Hertfordshire Forward), which is dealing with the challenges has published long term objectives. These include
    • Encourage alternatives to the car and reduce need to travel
    • Improve public transport
    • Improve road safety

Short term actions include

o       Tackling worst congestion hotspots

o       Improve accessibility for rural residents by improving time-keeping of local buses and improving access to hospitals

o       Maintenance of footways and roads (in relation to safety)
