Much Hadham Parish Council
The Much Hadham Parish Council met on 22 January 2008.  The meeting was attended by all Parish Councillors, Cllr Mary Bayes and Cllr Mike Carver and 5 members of the public.

Highways - the “Much Hadham” sign on the B1004 (north end of the village) is to be reinstated.

Street Lighting  - Windmill Way lighting – following trials, and a report to the Highways and Joint Members Panel on 14 January.  The Panel concluded that, as there was not complete support across the whole of the local neighbourhood, and the conducted trial had resulted in a greater luminance level than anticipated, the proposed footpath lighting scheme would not be implemented.  A number of residents would be disappointed with the outcome.

Over the next six months a reduced illumination pilot scheme is to take place in Much Hadham during the hours of midnight to 6 a.m.

Banks of the River Ash  - the problem of the build-up of silt had been reported to the Environmental Agency.

Public transport - County, Town and Parish Councils are all supporting the re-introduction of the No. 4 bus service from Perry Green to Bishop’s Stortford.

Resident’s comments – residents of the Parish are asked to place their refuse out on the day of collection and not before to avoid the unsightly affect this has on the appearance of the village.

Stansted  - little to report other than the Inspector had submitted his report for Ruth Kelly and Hazel Blears to consider.  There was every possibility that there would be some expansion approved in line with the Government White Paper.

Much Hadham Village Hall – structural maintenance – a request had been received that consideration be giving by the Parish Council to assume responsibility for the structural maintenance of the Village Hall.  It was agreed that such course of action should be considered when agreeing the Parish Council’s precept for 2009/2010.

Recreation Ground - Following several complaints and injuries, Parish Council has agreed to remove the merry-go-round at the recreation ground.   Long term, Parish Council are researching the possibility of updating the play area.

Parish Design Statement – a visionary overview of the parish building on the Village Appraisal.   A steering group is planned to include Cllr Williams and Cllr Compton.  Cllr Williams to speak further on this at the Annual Parish Meeting.

Dates of future 2008 meetings:

2nd September (Parish Council)
4th November (Parish Council)

All meetings commence in the Village Hall at 7.30 p.m.
