We started the new season amidst glorious sunshine on the 14th April. On the Saturday we played Buntingford away in a 40-over friendly. Batting first, Little Hadham scored 155 all out with George Beckley top scoring with 30. In reply Buntingford were bowled out for 143, giving Hadham a victory by just 12 runs in a close and exciting finish. On the Sunday, County Hall visited Millfield Lane and again batting first we amassed 208 for 7. However this was not enough as County Hall reached 209 for 2, with five overs to spare, winning by eight wickets. May is a very busy month for the club, with the start of our league campaign and a number of evening cup matches, as well as Sunday friendlies. The club is playing in Division 5 of the Herts & Essex Cricket League (sponsored by Ten-17 FM) following relegation last season. The club is always looking for more players of all abilities and ages and even if you have never played cricket before why not come and “have a go”? Currently our youngest player is eleven; our oldest nearly 70 and we play a mixture of league, 20-over cup and friendly cricket. If anyone is interested in playing, umpiring or just generally supporting us then please contact either: John Brooks 07709 107963 Neil Oxborrow, 07769 850827 or Eileen Booth in the village post office, for more details.
